I have a bit of a confession. I am a a chocoholic. So much so that when I was younger, the only breakfast that I would eat was chocolate spread on scones. The scone to spread ratio was usually around 50:50. And occasionally I would follow it up with a spoonful of chocolate spread straight out the jar…

I know, it’s particularly gluttonous isn’t it?

I have calmed down a little since, and I now (usually) eat quite normal breakfasts. But my love of chocolate has certainly not gone away.

So my lovely friend Christie had me at ‘choc’ when she suggested that we popped into the infamous Choccywoccydoodah on a trip to London.

The chocolaterie is renowned for its chocolate creations that rival works of art. Their cakes are absolutely out of this world – and after tasting some samples in the shop, I can confirm they taste just as good as they look.

But your trip wouldn’t be complete without popping up to the Bar Du Chocolate upstairs… yep, that’s essentially a chocolate cafe, with a menu packed full of your favourite chocolate treats.

Be warned, it can get very busy at both the Brighton and London stores – so I would definitely advise getting there early and putting your name on the list. They will let you know how long the wait is and then you can either linger and look at lots of other yummy treats…or go elsewhere and come back at your allotted time.

We arrived at around midday, and it only took 15 minutes or so before we were headed upstairs to chocolate heaven.

The Bar du Chocolat offers all kinds of delicious cakes, sundaes and brownies. And you can have a chocolate milkshake made from your choice of dark, milk or white chocolate.

But there was one thing that we were after, and one thing only. And that was the chocolate dipping pot. After a trip to the Brighton contingent, Christie had raved about this delicious pot of chocolatey goodness, so I knew I just had to have one.

And I certainly didn’t regret it.

It’s not just a pot of chocolate. It’s a pot of the silkiest, smoothest chocolate you have ever had. And your pot comes complete with lots of delicious dipping fodder – from fruit, to marshmallows, to brownies and tiffin. There’s also chunks of honeycomb. And a little bit of turkish delight on the side…

It was actual heaven on a plate.

So if you are in London (or Brighton) and you are a fellow chocolate-lover, make sure you put Choccywoccydoodah on your yes list!
