Things have been a little quiet on the blogging pages of Year of the Yes recently, in fact we haven’t graced you with our presence since Christmas (doesn’t it feel like a lifetime ago). But that is because we have been working away behind the scenes to bring you some really exciting additions to Year of the Yes that we are hoping to launch later this year. Yep, it will mean bags more inspiration of exciting things to say yes to, and lots of encouragement to help you really live life to the full…

But in the meantime, we are starting a new monthly feature to round-up things that are coming up next month that might tickle your yes fancySo, here’s your round-up for the shortest month of the year… but don’t worry, there’s still plenty of time to fill with things you love and some new adventures.

Ladies and gentleman, a lovely list of things to do in February … (and please do drop any suggestions you have in the comments box at the end)!

A Laugh a Minute

It’s true what they say, laughter really is good for the soul. So why not book yourself a last minute comedy show for February? There are lots of fabulous acts touring this month, including Sarah Millican and Ed Byrne. Have a browse over on Ticketmaster.

And if you are looking for even more of a bargain, google around for local comedy nights near you. We recently visited a comedy night at the Picturedrome in Northampton. It was such a good laugh and at only £10, an absolutely bargain. You might even discover some local comedy talent before they get big!

As a starting point you can find comedy events across the country over on thecomedyclub.co.uk.

The Food of Love

We couldn’t let a February round-up go by without mentioning Valentine’s Day. Don’t worry, we are not about to go all V-day crazy on you and suggest super expensive activities to wow your love. Because we actually think that every day should be filled with love for your partner… that said, there are less extravagant activities that you can indulge in to take the opportunity to spend quality time with your significant other, without breaking the bank with hiked Valentine’s prices.

First up, don’t underestimate the power of a night in… it might sound like a cop out, but the best thing you can give your other half is your time. Quality time. That means no laptops, no phones, and probably a slap-up meal. If you are looking for inspiration of something quick, easy but delicious to cook – check out some of our recipe archives.

If you fancy making more of a day of it, and the weather is nice – why not take advantage of Valentine’s Day falling on a Sunday and go for a romantic walk. You could even squeeze in a couple of pub stops on the way to give you the chance to warm up over a beverage.

If you want to find a route near you, check out Walking Britain. Or for a pub focused version try this.

Family fun

Of course February also means that it is half term, so those of you with kiddies might be looking for fun and exciting ways to keep the whole family entertained.

The National Trust are hosting a series of events at their properties across the UK. Billed as a chance to ‘go wild outside and have a go at some 50 Things to do before you’re 11 ¾ including den building, campfire cooking, kite flying and stargazing.’ Let’s face it, some of those things should be on all of our lists. So check out what’s on.
